I'm seeing a change in the internet winds where the free model of everything is moving slowly into the paid model and it has to.
We all love to see something for free that hasn't changed since time began. The Internet was based on the freemium model that let information services just flow. You could go to almost any website you can find almost any bit of information you could do almost anything on the Internet and it didn't cost you. But let's face it if you're in business how could you possibly stay in business if you don't make money.
So what I started to see is that companies that were based on the freemium model are now charging slight fees for their services. The people and companies that used to give away free advice, free services and were happy to do that just for the exposure are now changing their minds. They now realize that they have to make money and in order to do so they need to charge for that. So why is this changing.? The changes occurred simply because people who are in business need to make money. That hasn't changed.
So my prediction of what will happen is that we will start to see more and more websites and services that will start charging minimal fees for their services. As this becomes the more accepted norm the fees of course will rise but people won't tend to notice because it's been a gradual transition from the free model to the paid model.
This in my opinion has to happen. How can you run a business, how can you pay for your websites or any of the other things that you need to stay in business without charging for fees and making money. Let me know what you think and if you're seeing changes too.
