As most of you know I spend a lot of time using social media. I write two blogs spend and lot of time on Twitter, Facebook and other social media platforms. These are all great to use but you need to know how they're performing. For example: are you getting the best use of your time by posting at certain times, are you reaching the audience that you're hoping to? At present I do a lot of my researching through a trial and error method. I look at what works and what doesn't work, discard the useless and try again but I really need to be looking more at hard numbers that you get from analytics.
Now I do use various analytics to look at things but I realize that one of the things I need to concentrate on more is how to use those numbers to my advantage. There's just so much information to gather and so much to do every day that makes it hard to learn it all at the same time. There are people and groups out there that all they do is study analytics. They don't write posts, they don't analyze what's actually effective in writing for their audience, they are just number people and I need to learn to combine the writing, the numbers and the relationships.
So I'm hoping in the coming months that I will be a will to broaden my knowledge of how to use SEO, how to use analytics on various platforms to better see what is happening.
Social media is a new and evolving marketing tool and with that comes constant changing. Every day has to be analyzed and looked at so that you can discover the best way to reach your audience for the most effective use of your time. I look at what posts seem to be most successful? What times to post are the best? What are the reactions that people have to various posts? I look at everything that I possibly can but yet I need to concentrate more on the actual numbers for business use.The key, to me, is that I acknowledge I have an area that I am lacking in. Now to try and remedy the problem.
